The year started of with the AGM '97 in Carlingford which
was brief and to the point, completed the Agenda, and sent all present
off to enjoy each others company and Carlingford at the same time.
It was most enjoyable to meet old friends and their families and to
link hands across the border.
The new venue at 24 Eden Quay served us very well for the year, and we are very grateful to Frank Corcoran for allowing us the use of it.
In October, TAI was represented at the Educational Conference in Oxford by Aine, Elizabeth, Elizabeth's daughter Mary, and grandson Oisin.
November was the Christmas celebration meal in Coolmine - thanks to Hazel and Pat.
In January there was a TAI meeting in Carrickfergus, and it was agreed
that the name of the group be changed to TAI North, and the former
Dublin group is now to be TAI East.
TAI North will have occasional workshops, rather than monthly meetings.
In April Rory Truell PTSTA came from New Zealand with his family to live in Ireland for a few years. He is planning to make TA clinical training available at some stage.
In Guildford, also in April, there were three representatives from Ireland at the ITA Conference: Elizabeth, Lorna from Canada who lives in Kilkenny, and Noel from Cork.
THE YEAR AHEAD
TAI East will have another change of venue, though it is not
yet certain to where. Suggestions welcome.
Elizabeth has signed her CTA contract so is now a trainee.
Membership continues reasonably steady, but we still do not have enough
to join EATA.
There are minor changes to the Constitution.
There will be new representatives - Pat Glass was co-opted in March to replace Hazel Harbinson who resigned for personal reasons. Pat has agreed to continue.
Two other volunteers will be needed. The responsibility of a representative
is to sign documentation whenever someone is needed to represent TAI. And
to collaborate in writing the Representatives Report about the years events.
