About Limerick Network Against Racism

Limerick Network Against Racism (LNAR) is a network of organisations, groups and individuals based in the mid-west of Ireland. Members include statutory and voluntary bodies, and the network is open to any person or group that promotes the values and objectives of the network.

Aims and Objectives

A. To Promote Anti-Racism Work

Objective 1

To encourage the participation of each Member Organisation in Anti-Racism work.

Objective 2 To support the work of Member Organisations in the delivery of Anti-Racism initiatives, including training, events, etc.

B. To Challenge Racism

Objective 1

To be a support to people affected by racism..

Objective 2 To be a proactive voice in challenging racism..

C. To be a Resource for one another in Anti-Racism Work and in Challenging Racism

Objective 1

To share information and existing resources.

Objective 2 To have a knowledge of each organisation..

D. To Lobby for Policy Change on Anti-Racism Issues

Objective 1

To coordinate the work of the network members in influencing policy at regional and national level.


Terms Of Reference

Membership

  1. Membership is open to individuals and organisations who have a commitment to and an interest in Anti-Racism Work, and who agree to adhere to the Principles, Aims and Objectives of the Network. There is a need for a Core Group for consistency and for the purposes of organising the work of the Network.

  2. The name of the Network is Limerick Network Against Racism (LNAR). The Network is conscious that Limerick City and County has a hinterland spreading into surrounding counties. The Network will thus not prohibit membership from these areas.

  1. A Core Group of up to five people will be appointed by the Network.
  2. The functions of the Core Group are the following:

  1. The Core Group will arrange the Administration of Network Finances should the need arise.
  2. The Core Group will arrange for the induction of new members to the work of the Network and to the Aims and Objectives of Network.

  3. The outline of the Agenda for meetings will be set at the previous meeting of the Network. Additions to the Agenda should be forwarded to the Core Group not less than 10 working days before the next meeting.

Review

There will be an Annual Review of the Terms of Reference, Aims and Objectives and Work Plan of the Network, to be facilitated by a non-member.
