SELECTION PROCEDURES
The Procedures allow for the selection of a student from Loreto Secondary School to attend the International Space School, on scholarship, at Houston, Texas, USA
The scholarship is open to all 5th year Physics students.
There are two parts to the selection process, each carrying 50% of the total score.
PART 1 (50%)
There are three parts:
- Students, interested in the exploration and development
of space, must submit a project or essay, or sit an
examination based on topics associated with Physics
- Special consideration will be given to students who have
demonstrated that they can find answers, solve problems
and apply themselves diligently to given tasks.
- Students will also be judged on extra-curricular
activities - sport, music, volunteer work, school
committes etc. that develop qualities of leadership and
self-reliance as such qualities are essential for space
exploration.
PART II (50%)
This part consists of an interview.
This interview will be conducted by a panel of three people connected with the school, either presently or in the past, through the Parents Association, Board of Management, Board of Trustees or through In-School Management.
The purpose of this interview, which will be open to the final candidates, will be to choose the person "WHO DESERVES TO GO THE MOST.""
