works from his home set in the rolling Drumlins of picturesque South Leitrim.
A third generation woodcraftsman, the tradition of wood is surely in the blood,
his grandfather having been the local woodsman and maker of hay rakes, stools
and tool handles. Even to this day the local joinery firm is still in the family.
Louis’ inspiration for this generations work, comes from the very woods
that are abundant in the area. The shape of a branch or a tree dictating the
outcome of his next piece. With all the timber he uses coming from a locally
grown sustainable source.
Attention to detail from design to the silk-like finish, is conceived and carried
out by Loui himself. Giving a really unique, functionally artistic piece for
your home. With his own background originally in light engineering, the construction
of the furniture is strong, durable and certainly can be deemed as antiques
of the future.

having had commissions from hotels to ecology centres and even a University.
You will find Loui making his way around all the countries colourful and varied
craft fairs. Having contact with the people who buy his furniture is certainly
a great motivating force in developing his work.
When I asked Loui what he liked most about his work the answer was simple:
‘Whilst I enjoy the independence of being my own boss, being at home for
my two children growing up is important.
The quality of life this brings to us all cannot be replaced in any other way'.
Loui is also a member of Visual Leitrim which is a local Enterprise Board initiative
for all Leitrim based artists and craft workers. This organisation has fast
become the Kilkenny Yard of the Northwest. Supporting and show-casing many peoples
work in their individual disciplines. Through Visual Leitrim, Loui has been
featured in Ireland welcomes magazine, House and home-interior design publication
and appearances on Nationwide (RTE), Ireland am (TV3), The Late Late Show and
Live at Three.
