Author Visit 2001  5th Class Room 3

Marita Conlon Mc Kennas' Visit

Marita Conlon  Mc Kenna is the well known Irish author of the famine trilogy Under the Hawthorn, Tree Wild flower Girl  and Fields of Home. She also has other titles such as the Blue Horse, In the Deep Dark Woods, No Goodbye, Safe Harbour, Granny Mac Ginty , My First Communion.

Marita also writes some books for adults.

Marita Conlon Mc Kenna wanted to become an author since her first year of school when the teacher said they would be starting to read and everyone opened their book on the first page. She remembers the first page and she thought this is boring I could write better than this myself. She  says that  bad books inspired her too because she wanted to be able to write a book that was better.

I found Marita to be a friendly  interesting person who writes exciting books and I was glad to meet her.

Sinéad Room 3

On Thursday 24th of May at eleven o'clock Marita Conlon Mc Kenna came to St. Louise's Senior School and talked to the children about her childhood and her very many books.

It was a day to remember, but I'd say it wasn't quite as exciting for her as it was for us.

I'm sure her life is very exciting - I know her life is very exciting!
