Community Games success in Athlone We arrived back from Athlone safe and sound last night with our fair share of medals. A great weekend was enjoyed by competitors, managers and parents. Missing from the team on the day was Sorcha McNulty who was out in Macedonia with the Irish Basketball team. Duagh/Lyre u-16 Girls Basketball team who won silver medals in the Community Games National Finals in Athlone last weekend. The girls were up against the hot favourites, Oranmore/Maree of Galway in the semi-final. They beat them 32 points to 27 in a thrilling encounter. On the following day they took on Drimnagh of Dublin. It went to extra time. Final score Duagh/Lyre 33; Drimnagh 34. On Saturday evening after their basketball match the team headed for Banagher where Eibhlis Dillon and Laura Sheeran participated with the Kerry u-16 Football team.
