Mario 64 - N64 / Virtual Console

Mario recieves a letter from Princess Peach and quickly rushes to the castle with his best pair of overalls and a red cap. When he gets there by sewer (pipe) he is greated by Lakitu, Lakitu tells him that he will be the camera for the way.

As Mario heads for the door he can almost taste the cake, he's just thinking of how wonderful it will be! Expecting to hear Peach's sweet voice greet him with a "Hi Mario, Im over here!" He quickly thrusts the door open. Instead of a "Hi Mario!" He hears a very gruff voice saying :

"NOBODIES HOME, NOW SCRAM BWA HA HA HA!"

One name rushes to Marios head: BOWSER! While wondering what happened Mario quickly rushes to the first door, and the start of your adventure.

Graphics

Well I'll say this, This game has the BEST graphics out of all the launch games for the N64, Wait a minute.. Its also the ONLY launch game.. Does that make it the worst too? Nah couldnt be. Aaaanywho, this is one of the very first games to be made 3-D and that was a HUGE graphical improvement back in the day. It may be all made out of shapes, Just look at mario in a screenshot somewhere, but its still colorful and 3-D, Ya couldnt really beat that back then -

Sound

Now I believe the sound part of this game is where it really shines. You can hear thwomps' UGH as they hit the ground. Coins bouncing on the ground is a sound that you hear a lot - yet never get bored of. And what I really love about this games music is that little chime whenever you get a star. Just little things like that really add up. And the music when you're in a bowser level, classic. I can even hear all these things right before im about to type them. Dont take my word for it, Ask anybody whos played this game! -

Gameplay

Gameplay I think is where it gets a little.. button mashy. Its not so bad with A to jump, B to punch and such, But what im talking about is some of the moves such as A+B and while in midair - Z. Its that kinda stuff that im talking about. Its soo hard for me to press all those buttons in that order.. Another part of gameplay that I have a problem with is the wall kicking, I'd time it perfect, EVERY TIME. But noooo it was like YOU STAY OFF THE WALL YOUNG MAN. So then I made Mario hire Bowser as a slave to kill the wall. Then it let me jump up. Anyways-

Replay Value

Well I think that the replay value of this game stands out more than most games. This is because you can beat the game with 70+ stars. But even when you do that, Your Quest isnt over until you get all 120 stars. I dont know about you, But I just have this driving force to collect all of them. And believe it or not, Up to this day I still havent done that yet, I have like 113 or so. Im so close I can almost taste it, But yet so far away. You would never guess how hard some of them are to get. Replay value Was going to be a (4/5)... But after typing all that I changed my mind, It made even ME want to go play it for myself. - (5/5)

Overall

This game is GREAT. If you dont have it for the Wii's VC and you can spare 10 euro on a game, Go for it! I didnt give this game a perfect because I dont like giving out perfects, If you find me giving out perfects, It would be a game that I absolutely LOVE, A game that you'd find me giving a perfect to would be a game that doesnt annoy me at times (cough cough WALL JUMP)
