Introduction
Kate left for Uganda on the 25th of May 2004 to teach the Tin Whistle, Gaelic Football and English in the Peter K. Gad Memorial School, Kitovu Village, Masaka, Uganda. As well as teaching there, Kate has been fundraising to improve the dormitory situation, classroom situations and quality of life of the children in the school. Word has got out and there has been a great spontaneous response from the local community and friends (at home and abroad). This page shows all the news from Kate in Uganda. You can help by making a donation. If you would like to see how far your money goes have a look at Uganda Childcare e.g. It costs €14 to buy shoes and socks for a child.

Totals all in for Sponsored Walk for Uganda on 15th August
The walk has raised a total of €5900 for the school in Uganda, Thanks to everyone involved in the fundraising and walking and to all the contributors. We'll try and get a breakdown of where all the money went from Kate when she gets home. She will be leaving Masaka on the 2nd November 2004 so the online donation facility has been removed. Thanks again
Sponsored Walk for Uganda on 15th August
Two of the walks will use Prices Lane and three walks will be on the Roscommon bank of the river- one to Raharabeg, and the other two will branch right at the bottom of Gunning's Hill past Ard Chiarain. The shorter one will take the Island Road as far as the river and rejoin the main road via the steps at The Fort. The Longer one goes down to the bog on the left and joins the Ballinasloe road about 600 yards past Ard Chiarain. For people that need a longer walk the loop road through Clondelara, Bog Rail and home via the Cloghan road is available but this route is still to be decided. To take part get your sponsorship card in the shops and of course get sponsorship. Please do it early.
