In 1850,County Leitrim grand jury built the town hall. The site was given by the Whyte family. They had theatrical performances, dances ,public meetings and not so public meetings there. It also was the grand jury banqueting hall. In 1879, the occasion of the dedication of St. Mary's church was held in the Town Hall.
