St George's Church

 

St George's church is a Protestant church. It was once situated in Kiltoghert . It was transferred to St. Mary's Close, Carrick on Shannon, following an act of parliament. It was re built in 1829. The interior was reconstructed in the period 1910 to 1914. At the back of the church, there is a Protestant graveyard. The Protestants call their priests Rectors. Rev W. A. Percy was once the rector of this church in Carrick on Shannon. Rev. W.A. Percy was the grandfather of the famous song writer Percy French. The Protestant rector lived in the old rectory on the Dublin Road.
