The Dun

The Dun is a remarkable and possibly prehistoric earthwork or mound which cuts off the great loop in the Shannon between Drumsna and Jamestown . It was built by the people of Connacht possibly two years before the birth of Christ . It was built to protect a crossing point on the Shannon from attacks by the people of Ulster.
