Glencarne House

Mr. Nash designed the house. It was built between 1830 and 1840. A man called Handley built it. One of his daughters married a gentleman called Berten, who was the rector of Ardcarne Church. Mr. Vared lived there too. He was on business from Belfast. Afterwards there was a Mr.Waugh, and later Charlie Nutley. When Charlie Nutley was selling the house Sean Doherty's father bought it with the help of his brother Gerald who was in America at that time. Sean was born there. Pat and Agnes Harrington bought the house on the 3rd of August 1963. They came to live there in March 1968. In May 1969 they opened it as a guesthouse.
