Planting Cassava in the forest

"My bus rides gave me a view of the countryside, and the local villages which line the road. Most of the villages seemed quite poor. The houses are just made of corrugated tin, with here and there a traditional cottage called a bure, made of plant fibres. I wondered whether the Indians all lived in the towns, as I only noticed Fijians in the villages. Here and there are small plantations of cassava and other vegetables, but there is not much cultivation."
