Special Visitors
One of Áras an Uachtaráin's most special visitor was Queen Victoria. She was
the only monarch to visit three times . In 1849 they built the State Dining
room for her because she was claustrophobic.
Every special
visitor who visits Áras plants a tree in the grounds. The Pope was no exception
the spade he used is in the musem under Áras an Uachtaráin.
King George also
visited. Some famous visitors were Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, Prince Charles
and our new Cardinal Desmond Connell on the 25th of Feburary 2001.
Did You Know?
Did you know that Ronan Keating, Bono and U2, Sonia O'Sullivan, Tony Blair,
Mo Mowlan and Brian Kennedy also visited Áras an Uachtaráin.
