THE ADVENTURES OF LITTER LUGABUG

IN PREFAB 1

One hot day when Lucy and Tom were in school the bin exploded. It was a Litter Lugabug made of cans and plastic. It jumped on the chairs and tables and licked up all the litter everywhere. There were no more dirty bits anywhere but the two kids kept throwing their litter in other people’s bags. The Litter Lugabug took it out and put it in his mouth and did it all over again.

It was a lovely Summer’s day. All the children were wearing their shorts. The children were in class. Just then the bell rang and all the children ran outside to play. Sally and Fred shoved all their rubbish into other people’s bags. Their teacher was watching them and made them pick it up. Then they rushed out to the yard. Their teacher let them play in the yard longer. Meanwhile the bin had exploded and out came Litter Lugabug swaying around the classroom. Suddenly the children came in and Litter Lugabug was gone and the classroom was clean.

of the United States.

If he is the President he will be very busy.

There was flood in Cork last week.

A boy is throwing rocks in this picture.

The man is trying to stop him.

It is in Jesus’ country.

They are having a war.

About a hundred years ago the Eiffel tower was made.

At night the lights are shining on it.

It looks beautiful.

SICK IN BED

Oh no, Oh no, I have the flu

The cough, the chill, I’m feeling blue

The doctor’s called, he’s on his way.

The doctor came and said I’ll be fine

And tomorrow I’ll be back in my school line

And that’s what happened when I was sick,

But I got better really quick.

CHILDREN’S

BOOK FESTIVAL

It was Children’s Book Festival month and one morning our teacher asked the class who would like to read a favourite extract from a library book they had read.

We all picked our favourite extract.

We prepared our favourite extract for homework. We read it aloud in class next day. Ms. Gaffney split the class into groups. She gave each group a space to practise and listened to us again. The groups were sent to different classes to perform. One group chose a poem called ‘The Visitor’ and then Ms. Gaffney thought of the idea to turn it into a play. There were certain parts in the play that needed sound effects, so Ms. Gaffney picked girls to play percussion instruments. The drama group went to every class in the school to perform the play. All the classes enjoyed the performance. It was great fun.

MY DOG

I have a little jack russell

Whose name is Charlie.

At night he sleeps in my house.

He’s ever so small,

He’s afraid of a mouse.

He sleeps in a basket

On top of a mat.

And would you believe,

He’s afraid of all cats.

When we bring him for a walk

In the Phoenix Park,

He runs and plays

And barks and barks.

When he gets lost

In the big high grass,

We call out his name, Charlie,

And he runs back fast.

IT’S RAINING CRAZY!

It’s raining crazy,

But those people are not lazy,

They go around barely dressed,

I don’t suppose they have been blessed,

They swim in that icy cold weather,
