Cricket in the Phoenix Park

  T
here are three cricket clubs who have their home ground in the Phoenix Park.

The most famous is The Phoenix Cricket Club.

The other two clubs are:

The Civil Service and

The Garda Cricket club.

All of these grounds are situated on the main road opposite the Polo grounds. The Phoenix Cricket Clubhouse was a bomb shelter in the Second World War. It was hit by a bomb. It is a protected building and it isn't allowed to be demolished. The clubs were only allowed to renovate the building a few years ago.

Cricket is a bat ball game played in teams of eleven. The batting side try to score runs by hitting the ball and running between the wickets.
