Cycling in the Phoenix Park

Some people cycle around the Phoenix Park to look around at all the views. Most people cycle around the Pope's Cross. People like cycling around the park. Sometimes there are Mini Tour de Frances held there and lots of people enter the race. Every Summer lots of cycle- races are held in the Phoenix Park on a Tuesday evening.

Sometimes I go cycling with my mam in the Phoenix Park. We see all the different trees. Sometimes we see the deer. There is a path especially made for cycling and walking. on a nice day you can sometimes see the Dublin mountains.

The Tour De France in the Phoenix Park

In the yeat 1998 the first stage of the Tour de France was held in the Phoenix Park. Some sections of it took place along Chesterfield Road which is the main road in the park.

Interest ing Fact:

TheTour De France is often called 'The Tour'. The race started in 1903 .

It is held every July. 200 competitors take part and it covers 3,200 Km . It lasts for 25 to 30 days and it is watched by millions of spectators. Stephan Roche, an Irishman, won the Tour De France in 1987.
