Seed Dispersal When seeds are wind dispered they come off with the wind. This goes for the ash and the sycamore. The seed does not fall off the tree. It glides off the tree very carefully and gently and then hits the ground.
Fact box Squirrels eat acorns When squirrels run up and down trees they knock acorns on to the ground. They pick them up and eat them or bury them for winter. When they wake up during the winter they eat a few and go back to sleep. Sometimes squirrels knock the acorns off the tree and do not notice. The acorns sprout into the ground and a new tree grows.
Lots of birds eat berries.
When they are eaten by the birds, they are digested in the stomach and eventally the bird deposit them and another tree grows. Most berries are red or orange, some berries are poisonous to human beings. Berries can grow on holly tree and some people even have berry bushes in their gardens . When birds fly down they knock off other berries and the berries fall on the ground. When this happens it is called animal dispersal.
