Wild Animals in the Phoenix Park

Bats

Bats live in dark caves and old houses. They sleep upside down and hang by their feet. The bat has long feet for when it is hanging to a tree. He has a hooked thumb and sharp claws. Instead of feathers the bat has fur.

Bats' wings are thin and like leather that can stretch around the sides of the bat's body. The bats wings are not like birds wings because wings do not have any feathers.

Bats can not see very well. If a light shines in its eyes it will go blind. The bat can only go somewhere if it sends a signal. If the signal bounces back at him/her it means there is something in the way. The bat has long ears to hear the signal.
