The Fox

There are many animals in the Phoenix Park. One of them is the fox. A fox has good eyesight, which helps it to hunt at night. It catches rabbits and birds to eat. The male fox is called a dog-fox and the female is called a vixen.

In April three to six cubs are born. Both foxes make very good parents. The foxes house is called a den. The den is made of bones, feathers, and fur. Sometime they use leaves and grass for the den. The cub is very delicate. It is very small when it is just born. Sometimes you get mixed up between a baby fox and a slimy smelly dirty rat. Foxes are mammals. There are about ten species of fox which belong to the dog family. Foxes have pointed ears and a bushy tail.
