Beethoven

This Rap was composed by Mrs Gilligan's fourth class, coinciding with the visit of the Vogler Quartet to Riverstown on Friday 9th February.
Aileen Donagher McGowan brought her school from Owenbeg; Seamus McCormack brought his school from Ballintogher; Martin Enright brought his school from Coolbock; and Mary Gilligan brought Riverstown school to enjoy the wonders of Classical music underlined in the Rap.

His name was Ludwig Van Beethoven

When his mother died his father was sad

And began to drink then he went to the bad

Ludwig started to compose he was on his ease

One of his best was FUR ELISE.

Franz Haydn helped him do the trick

While studying with him he composed music

In Vienna he mad lots of friends

Was invited to parties at week-ends

He enjoyed long walks in the country

Which inspired his PASTORAL SYMPHONY

His music was played in every hall

The people were dancing and having a ball

Mozart the composer was quite impressed

And thought to himself he's one of the best

His talent was extraordinary

Ludwig disagreed with his two brothers

He was going deaf, didn't get on with others

His deafness interfered with his social life

He became very grumpy and he never had a wife

But he still had the touch, he never lost the gift

He thought and he thought and composed THE FIFTH

He was the greatest composer of his time

His music was the latest style

People flocked to hear him play

He gave them pleasure every day
