Lustrafjorden 1997

Two views looking south from the shore of Lustrafjorden at Høheimsvik, near Nes.

The first day of walking saw us sloging up the hillside above Høyheimsvik. Our goal was the summit of Grånosene, 1137m.

Once above the tree-line, the knoll of Rammaberg, 894m, was reached. The going was tough through waist deep snow, thawing slowly in the spring sun.

From Rammaberg it was possible to peer straight down to the fjord and our accommodation at Høyheimsvik.

From Rammaberg, slow progress was made up the broad ridge to the summit of Grånosene. However the view west over Lustrafjorden towards the 2000m peaks of the Jotunheimen was worth the effort.

From Grånosene, the view along the full length of Lustrafjorden was even more spectacular. Not only was Norway's third highest waterfall, the Feigefossen, visible but it was audible also, some 6km distant.

The 257KB JPG of this panoramma is pretty big, but worth the wait while downloading.
