Welcome to New Members :On behalf of McNally Swords Cycling Club, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our new members, namely, Norman Cleary, Victor Hynes, Jack Lynch, Neil O Brien, Kevin Morrison, Jane Morgan, Sam McArdle, Colm Millner and Kevin Burns. Indeed, Adrian Preporius who also joined the club has started the season with great success having recently won the C-Cat open race on Sun 7th of March.

Club League: The Club League commences on the 7th of April and enclosed please find the fixture list. A fee of 3 euro for club members and 5 euro for non-members will apply. It is important that marshals/stewards attend their designated race or make alternative arrangements so as to ensure that the events take place in a safe manner. The committee also requests that the Chief Marshall conduct a final sweep of the course at the end of a race to ensure nobody gets lost!

Launch of 2004 Club Season The annual launch of the club’s 2004 cycling season will take place in the Carnegie Court Hotel on Thursday 24th of March at 8.30pm on the first floor. Sandwiches and some refreshments will be provided. This is an opportunity to meet other members so as to galvanise the club and focus on the challenges for this season! Feel free to bring along family members and friends.

The weekly club spins continue to be the following times from April 3rd;

Thursday (tea stop) - 9.15am (Lord Mayors) - Distance 60miles approx
Saturday - 8.30am (Blakes Cross)- Distance 50miles approx
Saturday (tea stop) - 9.00am (Lord Mayors) - Distance 50/60 miles approx
Sunday - 9.15am (Lord Mayors) - Distance 60 miles approx

Touring Events There are a number of touring events taking place in the near future. It is anticipated that some of the ‘Saturday Touring Group’ and other club members will be attending the following events throughout the season- all are welcome- contact Ken Brennan 086-8103287 for further details.

General News: February was the month for extensive training in preparation for the new season! Sean Lally and the troops returned from a hard training session in the Canaries, while Terry and Tess’s Saturday Motley Touring Group are still recovering from a hard social session in Nerja - Spain!! Congratulations to Caroline Kearney for her recent success in joining a French Triathlon Team, we wish her well in the future. Indeed, we wish riders and back up team the very best when competing in the ‘Gorey 3 Day’. Finally, on behalf of all club members we would like to express our condolences to Sheila Blake on the recent death of her dad.

Club Tour on May 30th: The club tour will takes place on Sunday 30th of May from Fingallians GAA Club. Registration is at 8.30am, departing at 9.00am. There will be an 80 and 50 mile route. This event was very successful last year and we would appreciate if members could make themselves available and support the event again. Showers and refreshments will be provided.

Membership Affiliation for Club League: The committee would like to remind all riders who are competing in the club league to ensure they are both a member of McNally Swords CC as well as Cycling Ireland and that evidence of membership of Cycling Ireland is required to be produced when registering for your first league event.

Results Now that the racing season has started, if anyone gets placed in any race, please forward the result to Hugh Byrne by e- mail or phone. Also race and touring reports would be appreciated by Hugh. This is a club website so it requires input from all our Club Members.
