This is my PC. At the moment its a work in progress...

Parts installed at the moment

AMD Athlon 64 3700+

Definitely not the fastest CPU available, but a good solid performer. At the time, I got it for a decent price, and so far, it's not disappointed me. It was originally clocked for 2.2 Ghz, but managed to nudge it up to 2.4 ghz without having to increase the voltage or start messing around with multipliers. I only had to raise the HTT clock to 218 Mhz which isn't a huge jump, and had only a 3 C rise in temps. I could probably push it a lot further, maybe even to 2.6 Ghz, but I'm not going to be greedy about it. By June I'll have a new processor installed, so this just has to do me 'til then. With processors, it REALLY is the luck of the draw, some will overclock easy, some take a bit more work. Bought from Komplett.

Thermaltake Golden Orb II

A lot quieter and better than the standard stock cooler, and looks a lot nicer too. It's very heavy cooler, but due to its weight and its construction - it's made from copper - it sucks a lot of heat straight off the CPU, keeping it nice and cool. Keeps my temps low enough for me, even with the PC being in the living room and the fire lighting. Bought from Komplett.

MSI K8N Neo2-FX

A solid motherboard, fast, effecient, just a pity it doesnt have firewire. If you have a socket 939 processor and an AGP card, and don't yet want to make the jump to socket AM2, then this is a fine purchase if you can track one down. Bought from Komplett.

Powercolor ATI Radeon x700 AGP

A good performer with most games, a decent choice if you can't afford the x800. The GPU is clocked for 400Mhz, the memory originally clock for 266 Mhz which I pushed to 315 Mhz. I have ATI Tray Tools installed, which lets me set up custom profiles for each game, so some games that are sluggish, i can ease up on the settings, and the older ones I can push to the limit. In a lot of games, I can use AA - antialiasing - which smooths out the jaggy edges around things, making them look really great. Unless You're running something like Oblivion, this will do the job just fine. Bought from Komplett.

hauppauge tuner pci

Just a bog-standard tv tuner, but I can plug my camcorder into it, and use it as a webcam, which is seriously cool. As for recording quality, it's adequate, but not great. If I'm recording something like the Simpsons off Sky it's fine, but overall the quality of downloaded stuff is superior. Bought locallyl.

Trust Firwire Controller

Allows me to plug in my camcorder and rip stuff from it digitally, with very little loss in quality. I only bought it because the motherboard (mainboard) didn't have a fire wire connection. Bought locally.

3Com Etherlink XL

I needed a 2nd LAN connection to supply my duaghter's machine and my bedroom one too. It does the job. Bought locally.

768 Mb RAM

Originally, my PC came with 256 mb RAM, then added another 512Mb RAM to it. Thought of upgrading several times, but will wait until I switch everyting over to the AM2 platform, as that requires DDR2 RAM. Bought locally.

2 Samsung Spinpoint P120 250Gb hard drives

I chose these because the performance was reasonable, the price was right, and the noise was very, very low. These drives are very quiet indeed. Definitely a worthy choice if trying to reduce the noise level in you machine. Bought from Komplett.

OEM DVD Writer - Black

It's a DVD writer, it also writes CDs, it does what it's supposed to do. It originally came with a beige cover, which i changed to black. Part of a sytem, bought locally.

Silvercrest Wireless Optical USB Mouse

Yes, a cheap mouse to be sure, but it feels nice, and isn't too big - I've small hands. Mice shouldn't be about brand names, they should be about what feels comfortable, and this does. Bought in Lidls.

Saitek Gamer's Keyboard

I've gone through a lot of keyboards over the years, and this is absolutely my favourite without a doubt. Well worth the asking price. It lights up too, so it's comfortable AND looks cool. Bought from Komplett.
