This is located 5 miles from Mountmellick and famous for its beautiful lake, Capard House, and the buildings of Ballyfin College.  Ballyfin is a small community including a shop, pub, post office and community centre.  Ballyfin is so called due to its contribution to Celtic Mythology.  Translated, it means the ‘town of Fionn’, where Fionn went as a young boy to hunt and fight.
