In class, we learn theory - this includes the book work of Home Economics. In the Junior Certificate Year, we have to do a child care project or a textile. In the child care project, we have to include the development of a child between the ages of 0-5 years old. In the textile, we can sew wide varities of materials such as pillows covers and cushions.

The Junior Certificate syllabus covers five main areas: Food Studies, Consumer studies, Social and Health Studies, Management, Textiles. The Leaving Certificate course incorporates more detailed study of Food Science and Social Studies.
