Mountmellick is a small town. There is a Community School both for girls and boys.  There are also National Schools in Mountmellick.  There are a lot of sport activities going on in the Community School.  A new sports complex opened up at the back of the school. It is also opened for the public to enjoy.

Mountmellick town has the biggest Christmas Tree in Europe and the second biggest in the world. The town itself was founded by the Quakers known also as the friends.  On the 9th of December, the Christmas Tree was lit. Mountmellick Pipe Band play at every big occasion. They organised a disco in the square for the smaller children and had a disco in the Macra Hall for the older teenagers. There are discos every two weeks and there was a cinema hall, but it is closed down. There is one supermarket called Clelands, there are a lot of sweet shops and pubs in the town. That’s basically it on Mountmellick Town!
