Boys Senior A Volleyball Final 2001

The Senior A Boys final was contested between Mountmellick, last year’s defeated finalists, and the current holders Dunmanway.

Once again, we saw the holders lose out, this time in three sets. With some very strong play, Mountmellick became the Senior A boys winners 25-18, 25-22,25-21

Winning the first set rather easily (25-18), Mountmellick found the Dunmanway boys a lot more determined in the second set.  This could have gone either way and the home team won it finally on a score of 25-22.

Knowing that their title was slipping from their grasp, the Dunmanway team dug deep for the effort necessary to win the third set and take the game further.  However, Mountmellick had other ideas and playing some excellent volleyball and spurred on by a great group of supporters they edged the set once again 25-21 to record a famous victory.
