Fifth Class Autumn Poems

Autumn Leaves

 Crimson leaves in the breeze

Flying high in the sky,

Beautiful sunshine, beautiful day,

I can’t wait to go and play.

The skipping rope goes round and round

The leaves too, go round and round

Yet they never touch the ground,

But in the Autumn breeze are found.

They are beautiful as they flutter,

They’re yellow, the colour of butter

Little squirrels up the tree,

Looking for acorns, wild and free.

Days are slowly getting colder

Everyone is getting older

Little hedgehogs sleeping tight,

They are sleeping day and night

We love Autumn, can’t say goodbye,

But we have to, and I know why,

Autumn will return next year

After summer has been here.

I’m Just A Little Tree

I’m just a little tree,

standing here alone,

nowhere to go,

and all I can do is moan.

I’m so bare,

I long to hear the birds

sing in my hair,

now they’re all flying to Africa

and warm places like there

Winter is here

That’s what I fear

THE BONFIRE BUILT IN THE DARK

Inside the squirrels stay

Only coming out to feed

But in the autumn

They come out to play,

Dance and pirouette among the leaves.

And in the dark,

When nobody is about

They come out,

And sing and laugh

And build their own bonfire

On Hallowe’en night

And celebrate along the autumn paths.

But when dark turns to light

They climb up the tree

And get into bed, on top of soft leaves.

All that’s left

When we go to the park,

Is the remains of the bonfire

Built in the dark.

Autumn

Autumn leaves fluttering by

Autumn leaves hear them cry

As they fall off the tree

Falling, falling just past me

Autumn leaves, crispy and dry

Autumn leaves, see them die

As they fall off the tree

Falling, falling just past me

Autumn

Crimson, like the colour on a diamond shaped kite.

Amber, like a fire on an Autumn night.

Hedgehogs hibernating, sparrows flying away,

Light is getting darker, day by day.

Leaves dancing in the wind, fluttering to the ground.

Trees swishing in the breeze, making a rustling sound.

Every day, the weather becomes colder

And in the night, the midnight sky,

The black is getting bolder.

Autumn

Golden leaves

Flowing in the breeze

Like birds flying.

From brown trees with branches twisting.

The amber leaves crinkling and crunching.

Like a white horse eating.

The squirrels are running and munching

On conkers

And hedgehogs are hibernating.

The still of the night is longer.

In the morning the days are shorter.

It’s Autumn

It’s Autumn don’t you see.

Look outside at the world.

Open your eyes and come out to play.

No more trips to the sea or the zoo.

Just a game between me and you.

It’s Autumn don’t you see.

The leaves are all around.

Dancing on the ground.

The colours make you stop and stare.

Crimson, golden, red and brown.

Look at them tumble down

Leaving trees and branches bare.

It’s Autumn don’t you see.

The squirrel running up the tree.

Collecting nuts for itself to eat.

All the birds are flying away.

For a little holiday.
