Twiggy

Hi my name is Twiggy.  My sculptor’s name is Linda Brunker she called me Elemental 2.  I don’t like the name.  My friend, Man of Stone , calls me Twiggy.  I prefer that name , it suits me more.  The Sculptor called him Elemental 1.  What wacky names they call us.

Anyway now to tell you about myself:

I am made of twigs and old branches off trees.  The colours I am made up of are brown and black. The wire that holds me together is copper wire it is camouflaged in with the colour of my body.

I guess you’re wondering why I’m kneeling down. Well one day my family were out walking in the blistery and high cold when I lost them in these gardens.  It was so cold I knelt down on the ground and froze to death.  Then this girl came along and moulded me out of twigs and branches and then stitched me up with copper wire to keep me in place.  The sun came up, the snow melted and my body withered away and now I’m here  a stick and copper person.

Everybody is welcome to come to the National Botanic Gardens any time to see a selection of plants and sculptures and you can see my friend Man Of Stone and Me.

                                                                       See you soon!  By C.
