During Lent, The children of
Meentinadea school collected
money to send two goats to Africa.
This was organised by the Irish
charity Bothar.

The children saw this as an
opportunity to help those less
fortunate than themselves, and set
about collecting money for the
project with enthusiasm.

Dear Friends, Bothar is pleased to report that we successfully airlifted 150 dairy goats to Tanzania on June 16th 2000.

150 families who had been preparing for them for a number of months joyously received the animals, and already some of the goats have begun kidding!
We have just got back photographs of the goats with their new families and are delighted to be passing yours on to you.

May I take this opportunity to congratulate you on a wonderful achievement. Thanks to the money your school raised, poor children in Tanzania now have a brighter future to look forward to. The goats will have an important and significant impact of the lives of the families who received them and on behalf of those families I would like to say thank you.
Jeremy Meehan, Bothar supporter and the national schoolteacher who devised the Bothar na nGabhar Project accompanied the goats to Africa. Jeremy wrote an account of his journey with the goats and the families he met in Tanzania which will be appearing in next months copy of the Bo Vine, our quarterly supporters newsletter.

If your school would like to do any further fundraising for Bothar please do not hesitate to contact the office on 061 414142. We would be happy to send you any posters, information leaflets or videos you might require. We can even arrange for a speaker to visit your school when next in the area!

Once more I wish to congratulate & thank you for all you have done. I hope this photograph will remind you of the people you have assisted.

Yours Sincerely,

Deirdre Corbett
Fundraising Co-ordinator.

P.S. If your school did not receive a Certificate for participating in the Bothar Livestock Programme 2000 at the Goat Reception, please contact the office and we will post one out to you.
