Mercy College, Sligo, a day school for girls, was established in 1946. Today it caters for over 600 students. These come mainly from Sligo town and it's surrounding areas but, in recent years, we have had a considerable increase in the number boarding locally and availing of our prestigious Leaving Certificate Repeat and Post-Leaving Certificate (P.L.C.) programmes. In addition to these and the traditional Junior and Leaving Certificate courses, we have a well established Transition, Leaving Certificate Applied (L.C.A.), Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (L.C.V.P.) and Evening Adult Education classes. The school has a great tradition and concern for slow learners. The emphasis is on creating a stimulating environment where students both learn and enjoy themselves. We value the good relationship that exists between staff and students and are delighted when visitors and new students frequently comment on the happy atmosphere they find here. Over the years our students have also excelled at sport, especially basketball, volleyball and hockey. We now have a modern gymnasium, a soccer/gaelic field, an all-weather hockey pitch, several tennis courts and a running track. We hold our annual Open Day in November. This gives parents and prospective students a chance to meet staff and see first hand what our school has to offer. Further information is readily available at all times.
