They next travelled through France and exquisite Belgium to Holland. When they reached Holland they checked into their hotel in Noordwijk and enjoyed a good nights sleep. The next morning they rose early and started the day with a good breakfast. They began their programme for the day with a walk around Amsterdam and then boarded a canal boat in the heart of Amsterdam. They sailed around all the canals in the city and then walked to Anne Frank’s house. They thoroughly enjoyed a guided tour around the historic house and afterwards they experienced happily a shopping trip around the enchanting city. They then returned to their hotel where they had an evening meal and afterwards went to a leisure centre and swimming pool in Tikibad. The following morning they travelled to Rotterdam by bus where they went shopping and later to see an IMAX movie. They then drove back to their hotel and they enjoyed some activities in the hotel with English boys who were also staying in the hotel. On the next day it was decided to pay a trip to Madourodam - a miniature model of Amsterdam and all of its sights. They again went shopping and returned to their hotel for an early night. On the final morning, the group woke early, packed their belongings and set out for Calais. They drove south for six hours until they reached the familiar sights of the city. They sailed to Dover and then drove back through England and on to Holyhead where they sailed back to Dublin and drove back to Sligo. All the people involved have very lasting memories of their time in Holland and they all agree that it was an excellent tour. |
