Down through the years St. Michael's School has produced many famous sports stars in many codes.
Eric Elwood played Gaelic Football for the Galway team but has become more famous as an international rugby star. He has won many caps for Ireland and is still an important member of the Irish Panel. He is presently playing professional rugby with the Galwegians Club
Francis Barrett boxed for Ireland in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He had the honour of carrying the Irish Flag at the opening ceremonies. He is currently training hard for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Conor O' Donovan captained the Galway Minor hurling team to victory in 1992. He has played many times for the Galway senior team and is currently a Gaelic Games Development Officer in University College Galway.
Paul O' Donovan won a silver medal for the 1500m at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Indianapolis in 1983. Injuries afterwards curtailed his career.
Michael McNena won the Al-Ireland cycling Championship in 1997. He is currently a professional cyclist in Marseilles.
