Sport is a very important part of life in St. Michael's. Since the school was established in 1969, St. Michael's has had many fine sporting achievements. We have won the Cumann na mBunscoil County A Football Championship on five occasions. Under current trainer, Mr. Forde, we have won the last three titles and this year are going for four in a row.
The school has won the County Galway Cross Country Championship on many occasions and last year were runners up in the Connacht Finals. We have also enjoyed great success each year at the City Sports.
Soccer is played during the lunch breaks and each Wednesday the hurling coach, Gerry Spelman, comes to our school to coach the different classes in the skills of hurling.
