On the road to the final in Pairc Tailtain we faced alot of good teams such as Kells, Dunboyne and St.Pauls who bet us by 2 goals. We lost only two matches to St. Pauls and St. Olivers Plunkets. We got to the semi-final against St.Pauls (Navan) which was held in Dunsany pitch. It was a very wet and cold day. At the end that match Vincent Farrelly had a free to win the match but missed. It went into extra time which we won because of excellant defending from Gavin Quinn, Caolan Young and a brilliant goal from our midfield player Keith Toole.

On the second of December we were on our way to Pairc Tailtain. It was very exciting for the players and managers. Our school St. Michaels were the heavy under dogs. It started with alot of wides from Trim. At half- time the score was 0-2 to 0-0 to St.Olivers. In the second half the pressure was on St. Michaels when St. Olivers went up by 4 points. Thomas Farrell got a point for Trim. We got a free on the sideline from Vincent Farrelly. He lobbed it in front of the goals and Stephen Doyle punched it into the goals to draw the match. Trim got a forty-five taken brilliantly by Vincent Farrelly who but Trim ahead by 1-2 to 0-4. St. Olivers piled on the pressure till the end of the match but Trim held out till the end to win the Kyle Gavigan cup. Colm O' Rourke presented the cup to Caolan Young (Captain). That was the first time St. Michaels won the schools football championship.
