On Monday, Feb 5th our school received a wormery from the Irish Earthworm Company. Its total cost was £1000 including delivery and VAT. We received £200 from Meath County Council. We hope to receive some money from Super-Valu Trim. The Minister for the Environment, Noel Dempsey was there to launch the wormery. The wormery will be used to recycle all the school's organic waste. We got 8kg or (16,000) tiger/Red worms that will produce castings which will be used as fertiliser. This process is known as vermicomposting. We also did a survey which showed us how much waste we will have in the school per week.
