The Irish Woodturners Guild was formed in March, 1982 and by 1985 had 100 members. In the year 2004, it has grown to seven hundred plus members here and in Northern Ireland. The Midlands Chapter of the Irish Woodturners Guild was formed in the early nineties to cater for hobbyist woodturners outside the Dublin area in Counties Kildare, Carlow, Meath and Wicklow. From the initial twelve members, the Chapter has now grown to over 50 members. Workshops are held monthly on the second Saturday of the month. These meetings are informal with each workshop hosted by a Chapter Member who demonstrates a woodturning technique, either face plate or between centres which is a little challenging from the normal. If you are interested in woodturning and would like to find out more about the Midland Chapter, please telephone or email to the current Hon. Secretary, Arthur Dawson, Carlow.
