    eel.jpg (6228 bytes)     The electric eel lives in the Amazon and Orinoca rivers. It can give a strong electric shock. It isn't a real eel but its long snakey body makes it look like one. Most of the Organs lie in the front of the head and the rest of the organs are the ones that make the electricity.

The tissue of these organs are built one behind the other like plates on a battery so that the electricity runs from head to tail.

This eel depends on its electric shock to kill its prey and protect itself. They can shock a fish some distance away. The shock usually damages the fishes eyes. Electric eels eat different types of fish.
