HERMIT CRABS

 

 

     Hermit crabs live in seashore regions including rocky shores tidepools and mangroves. Hermit crabs diet includes seaweed dead animals and plants and small fish.

   Hermit crabs are eaten by many sea creatures like the clabfish birds and octopuses. Their two small back legs are adapted perfectly to hold onto the inside of the shell. They use their first pair of legs like hands to grab things because they have pincers on them. Some types of hermit crabs can grow up to 4 inches long (10cm) but most are usually about 1.5 inches.
