Poll Dubh Poll an Ionian Gortmore Caves Some Mines Other

      Pictures From PollDubh

Jane and Duncan looking at a fine formation in the south end of the system. (Size: 551k)
Oisin looking through the window connecting the two sections of this system. This has to be one of best fratures of the cave. (Size: 579k)
This is myself taking a look at the window from a different perspective. (Size: 588k)
Myself and Jane in a well decorated side passage close to one of the entrances. (Size: 516k)

      Poll-an-Ionain

From the cover of "CAVES OF COUNTY CLARE" compiled by C.A. Self and Photo by P.R. Deakin. The "Great Stalactite" AKA. the Soggy Dishcloth. Well worth the half a kilometer wet crawling to see it, sadly very little else to see in the cave. (Size: 336k)
What goes in!! Must come out ? At least I was thinking that when I jumped into this little chamber just of the "Great Stall" chamber.(Size: 248k)
No problem getting out, its a bit like being reborn so I have been told. (Size: 247k)

      Gortmore Caves

This photo shows the typical signs of visitors to these caves leaving their mark, these caves seem to attract the wrong element. (Size: 40k)
Donal looking as if he is about to attack the camera, I am glad to say he did not. Note the damage to the Stalactites above more signs of uneducated visitors to these caves. (Size: 125k)
Donal and Dermot in one of the many well decorated sections of this cave system. (Size: 145k)

      Mine Pictures

Jane just inside the entrance of a mine that is fairly overgrown with ferns and very difficult to locate. There are some deep drops not too far from the entrance, just waiting for the unwary. (Size: 136k)
      (Size: 136k)
Richard at the entrance to one of the biger mines and dare I say it possibly one of the safer in the area. I use the word "safer" cautiously as none of these mines are safe. (Size: 207k)
The entrance to this mine is showing signs of decay and could give way soon. Further into the mine it has alot of deep "cold" water. (Size: 146k)
      (Size: 140k)
