Location: 
Ireland is a small island located on the western edge of the European continent.

 

Religion:  
The majority of people are Catholics, but in recent years there has been a growing acceptance of secular values.

 

Language:  
English is spoken by everyone but Irish is the official language of the country.

Economy:  Agriculture, manufacturing and the technology sector provide the basis for Ireland’s economy.  In recent years the growth-rate has increased and unemployment has fallen. 

 

The Columban Sisters in Ireland:  The primary work of the Columban Sisters in Ireland is to invite everyone to become involved in missionary outreach. This is done by giving talks and presentations and through written communications.  In addition, the Sisters now work in programmess that address the needs of newly arrived immigrants and the poor. They are also involved with groups that work to create a more just and equal world for all.
