U/21 Football Championship Quarter Final

Moorefield continued ther excellent form in the U/21 football championship when they qualified for the semi final with a hard fought but deserved win over a game and talented Clane side in Conneff Park on Saturday afternoon last. From the start Moorefield were quickly into their stride picking off points through Patrick Murray, Robbie Delany and Brian McGrogan following some excellent approach work to lead 0-06 to 0-01 after 20 minutes. Clane then hit a purple patch scoring 4 points without reply in the last 10 minutes or so of the first half, further points from Kevin O'Neill and Patrick Murray left the half time score Moorefield 0-09 Clane 0-05.

The second half was again a closely fought encounter with some excellent passages of play by both sides, the main difference between these two very good footballing teams was the ability of Moorefield forwards to take the chances that came their way,enabiling them to run out comfortably winners in the end.

Best for Moorefield were: Jim Bob Murphy, Derek Ryan, John Paul McDonagh and Padraig Flynn in defence, Sean Whyte in midfield and up front Robbie Delaney, Patrick Murray, Kevin O'Neill and Brian McGrogan.

Beat for Clane were: Paudie Reidy, Ronan Murphy, Sean O'Dea, David Lyons, David cafferty and David Harney.
