U.16 FC semi-final
Moorefield ..........................5-16
Clane .....................................0-4
MOOREFIELD cruised into the county final with a superb performance from all areas on the pitch.
As hard as Clane tried they were never able to unlock the Moorefield defence and with the Moor’s forwards in great form it soon became a one sided affair. Eddie Crudden and Ross Glavin (2) put Moorefield on their way with well taken points. Moorefield’s first goal came after ten minutes when Barry O’Shea broke free from Lorcan Harney to crack home an unstoppable shot.
Keith Duane then raised the green flag by scoring a crafty goal after fifteen minutes. Robert Dunne of Clane came close to opening the scoring for his side but narrowly missed at a time when they needed score. Moorefield were missing nothing though and Ross Glavin (2) Johnny Maguire and Barry O’Shea added more misery for the boy’s in white.
Kevin Murnaghan playing at half forward for Moorefield sprung into life scoring 1-1 in the final five minutes of the first half leaving a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-0 at the break Eddie Crudden again started the Moor’s off with a fine solo point before Kevin Murnaghan again found the back of the net.
Clane broke their duck after fifteen minutes with two fine points from their best player Robert Dunne. But the pressure was relentless from Moorefield throughout this game and Alan Thorpe, Eddie Crudden and Keith Duane pointed once more.
Barry O’Shea got his second goal with ten minutes to go and added another two points soon afterwards.
Donagh Deane and Marcus Holligan pointed in the final stages for Clane who must have been disappointed by their display.
Moorefield’s half back line must get special mention because of dominance throughout the hour. Moorefield now go in search of four in a row at under sixteen level and with this performance it is certainly not beyond them.
Best for Clane were Robert Dunne, Donagh Deane, Shane Doyle and Eoin Naughton.
Outstanding for Moorefield were Kieran Kelly, Andrew Murphy, Ross Glavin, Eddie Crudden, Kevin Murnaghan, Barry O’Shea and Keith Duane.
Moorefield Scorers:Barry O’Shea 2-3, Kevin Murnaghan 2-1, Keith Duane 1-1, Eddie Crudden 0-4, Ross Glavin 0-4, Johnny Maguire 0-1, Alan Thorpe 0-1

SFL Division 1
Moorefield ..............................2-11
Round Towers ........................2-11
THE Round Towers mid-field partnership of Damien Broughall and Dermot Loughlin dominated from the start and left the Moorefield forwards starved of any decent possession. Despite this they were still in touch at half time trailing by 2-5 to 2-3.
Matters were very even in the second half and Moorefield showed great fighting spirit to claw their way back from a three point deficit. At the final whistle both sides could point to where they could have won the match but a draw was probably the fairest result.
Ronan Sweeney, Sos Dowling and Kenny Duane played well for Moorefield, but the introduction of Kevin O’Neill was also helpful.
Scorers Moorefield: Ronan Sweeney (1-1), Michael Ryan (0-4), Robbie Delaney (1-0), Kenny Duane (0-2), Cian O’Neill (0-1), Kevin O’Neill (0-1), Sos Dowling (0-1) and Patrick Murray (0-1).
Scorers Round Towers: Shane Daly (1-2), Paraic Donnelly (1-0), Karl O’Dwyer (0-4), Noel Donlon (0-2), Leonard Donlon (0-1), Brian Lacey (0-1) and Damien Broughall (0-1).
Damien Broughall and Dermot Loughlin performed well for Towers at mid-field while Brian Lacey, Shane Daly and Noel Donlon also starred.
Moorefield .............................3-14
Allenwood ................................2-6
The home side laid the foundation for this victory with a first half performance that saw them leading by 2-9 to 0-3 at half time. They dominated from the outset and with Sos Dowling and Robbie Delaney in good scoring form, Allenwood were in deep trouble.
However in typical fashion, they fought back in the second half with goals by Alan Smullen and Noel Mulvihill, but a goal by Brian McGrogan for the home side left their efforts in vain.
Moorefield dominated in most sections of the field with Paraic O’Flynn and Davy Barry outstanding in defence. Robbie Delaney, Sos Dowling and Frank Hanniffy were the pick of a forward line that always had the upper hand.
Scorers Moorefield: Sos Dowling (1-4), Frank Hanniffy (0-4), Brian McGrogan (1-0), Cian O’Neill (1-0), Robbie Delaney (0-3), Michael Ryan (0-1), Ronan Sweeney (0-1) and Martin Murray (0-1).
Scorers Allenwood: Alan Smullen (1-1), Noel Mulvihill (1-1), Dermot Doyle (0-2) and John Byrne (0-2).

Athy .....................................0-11
MOOREFIELD qualified for the Junior League final with a narrow win over Athy on Monday night.
Moorefield started brightly with a goal from Kieran Nurney and led by two points at half time.
The younger brigade of players, Gerry O’Connor, Philip Shiels, Stephen Potts, Mark Burns, and man of the match Gary Brennan, were in magnificent form in the second half when Athy really came at Moorefield but the Moore’s hung on to win by a one point margin.
