Club Notes

Yet another successful week on the playing fields. The seconds set the ball rolling with a hard fought victory over Athy to make the final of the Junior League Division One. Then the seniors defeated Allenwood and drew with Round Towers to maintain their unbeaten record and the under sixteen team played some outstanding football to overcome Clane and make the championship final for the fourth year in a row.

On Saturday night the draw for £5,000 and many other prizes takes place in the clubhouse followed by music and dancing. All subscribers and members are welcome.

On Sunday evening at 6 p.m. the seniors play Clane in the semi-final in the country grounds.

On Saturday the under fourteen teams play in semi-finals in St. Conleth’s Park with the under seventeen team playing Celbridge and the ‘B’ team playing Sarsfields.

Ladies Junior Football Championship

Moorefield .........................1-10

Raheens..............................2-04

Well Done to the Ladies Football Team who bet Raheens in the first round of the Junior Championship at St. Kevins recently, on a scoreline of 1-10 to 2-4.   Moorefield were dominant right throughout the match, with some excellent scores from Geraldine Browne (0-5), Mary Murray (0-2), Tracey Murray (0-2), Lisa Morrissey (0-1) and Cathy Dooley (1goal).  The Moorefield Ladies now go on to meet Carbury in the second round and are hopeful of reaching the final.   Training continues every Monday & Thursday nights in the Club grounds.  New players are always welcome.

CLUB NOTES

It was another succesful weekend on the playing fields for club teams with the Seniors qualifying for the semi-final of the Championship with a hard fought but deserving win over Raheens on the score of 3-11 to 2-08, the Junior "C"s also qualified for the Championship semi-finals with an impressive win over Celbridge on the score 0-17 to 0-07 and the Ladies not to be outdone also recorded a good win over Raheens in the first round of the Ladies Junior football Championship played at St.Kevins on Saturday afternoon last.

Meanwhile coaching and training for Boys and Girls U/6 to U/12 continues each Saturday morning New Members welcome - meeting at Scoil Muire at 10.45am Further information from Gerry Moran Ph: 433164 or Timmy Durney 432647.

On the development scene tickets are still on sale for the big development fund raising draw over £10,000 worth of prizes. Tickets are £30 and the draw takes place in the club house on Saturday 1st September and we are appealing to all Moorefield people past and present to support this fund raiser to ensure its success and enable continued development of our facilities.

CLUB NOTES

It is Championship fare this coming weekend with first the junior 'C ' team playing the quarter final of their championship this coming Saturday 11 August against Celbridge in Prosperous at 7p.m. On Sunday the Seniors take on Raheens in the quarter finals of the championship in St. Conleth's Park at 2.15p.m.
The junior camogie team qualified for the finals of the league with an emphatic win over St.Laurences by 2-9 to 0-2.
Despite it being holiday time, the coaching and training for boys and girls aged six years to twelve years continues every Saturday morning meeting at Scoil Mhuire at I0.45 am

Tickets for the ''Big Development Draw''' are still in circulation and in view of the major development work going on at present it is imperative that all Moorefield people get fully behind the fund raiser to ensure Its success. The draw' is not until 1st September 2001. Tickets cost £30. For further information contact Club Secretary Timmy Durney' on (045) 432647 or any member of the committee.
