Moorefield advanced to the next round of the Seamus Aldridge Cup with an easy victory over a weakened Towers side. Despite being on top in defence and at midfield some desperate shooting by most of the Moorefield forwards ensured that the margin between the sides remained at a respectable level. At half time Moorefield led by 0-6 to 0-2, with Patrick Murray getting most of their scores from placed balls. Shane Daly and Nollaig Conneely replied for Round Towers. Kevin O'Neill and Sean Whyte dominated midfield and the pattern continued in the second half until the former tired. Three points by Michael Ryan and one each by Martin Murray and Pa Behan made sure of a Moorefield victory while a point each by Seanie Drey and Shane Daly was all Towers could muster.
Scorers: Patrick Murray 0-7, Michael Ryan 0-4,
Martin Murray 0-1, Pa Behan 0-1.
Best: Martin Ryan, Jim Bob Murphy, Seamus Murray, Les Hogan, Kevin
O'Neill, Sean Whyte, Michael Ryan.
