Election of Passionist Regional Superior for
Botswana and Republic of South Africa

On 24th May 2001
Fr. Ignatius Waters C.P. was elected Passionist Regional Superior for
South Africa and Botswana.
Fr. Ignatius, a native of Navan, Co. Meath, was
ordained in 1962. He held many different appointments in St. Patrick's
Province, including Provincial (1986-1992). Aged 62, he has spent the
last number of years preaching missions and retreats in South Africa. |

Fr. Laurence
Byrne C.P. was elected as the First Consultor and Vice-Regional
Superior. Laurence, a native of Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland was ordained
in 1981. Aged 60 years, he has spend all his priestly ministry in
Botswana. Presently he serves the Desert Mission and lives in Tsabong on
the edge of the Kgalagadi Desert in South-West Botswana. |

The Second
Consultor is Fr. Diedericks Masana Selemela C.P.
Diedericks was born in Khutsong, Carletonville, in
South Africa and ordained in 1991. Aged 39 years, he is Parish Priest of
Westonaria and Bekkersdal. He has preached Missions and Retreats in
South Africa, Botswana and Ireland.
