Visit of Fr.
Michael Ogweno Yogo CP to Mount Argus.
Fr. Michael is a member of St. Patrick's Province
of the Passionists and assigned to Botswana.
Born 29th July 1965 in Homa Bay in Kenya he first
joined the Passionists in Kenya, completing his philosophy studies at
the Institute of Philosophy Consolata Seminary and his Theology studies in
Tangaza College both in Nairobi. He came to the Passionists of St.
Patrick’s Province in Botswana and having completed his novitiate was
professed on December 8th 1998 in Molepolole, Botswana.
Ordained in 23rd September 2000 he has assisted Fr. Patrick
Sheridan CP in the formation of postulants at Molepolole.
For the last two weeks of June 2001 he was
visiting the home Province of the Passionist in Ireland and Scotland. He
journed to St. Gabriel’s Retreat where he renewed friendships with
Frs. Oswald and Victor. Then on to Tobar Mhuire Monastery, Crossgar,
Downpatrick, where he meet Fr. Paul Mary whom he remembered coming to
his parish in Kenya when he was an altar boy. Also there was Fr. Mel who
had been in Molepolole and Fr. Dermot who had visited Botswana.
From Crossgar he visited the Passionist Parish and
Monastery in Ardoyne Belfast. It was a disturbed time in Ardoyne with
violence erupting and regular bomb scares. Returning to Dublin he went on 1st July to St. Anselm’s in Kent for an eight weeks summer course
before returning in the Autumn to Botswana.
