Diamond Jubilee of Ordination Fr. Dermot Power C.P.
On the 28th February Fr. Dermot Power C.P. celebrated Sixty Years in the
priesthood. Born in 1918 in Tramore Co. Waterford William Power joined the
Passionists and was professed on 20th September 1926 and took the name Dermot.
He was ordained in 1942 and two of his classmates Fr. Fergus Loughrey C.P. and
Fr. Conleth O'Reilly C.P. celebrate their Sixty years of priesthood as well. Fr.
Fergus and Fr. Conleth are both in Tobar Mhuire, Crossgar.

| At the celebration
Mass Fr. Frank Keevins C.P., Rector of Mt Argus, was principal celebrant
with Fr. Dermot assisting him in the place of honour.
In his sermon Fr. Frank reminded all of Fr. Dermot's life of
preaching Missions and Retreats to clergy, religious and laity.
He held many offices in St. Patrick's Province including Provincial
Consultor, Rector, Editor of 'The Cross', Teacher of Sacred Eloquence
and Student Director.
All wish him happiness in the years ahead. |
