'Get Together'
At Mount Argus 22nd October 2005 More Photos!
The
second gathering of former Passionists took place in Mount Argus on Saturday
the 22nd October 2005. The first such meeting took place on Saturday 9th
November 2002.
The day commenced at 10:30am with tea and coffee. This informal welcome
allowed people the opportunity to meet, greet and reacquaint old friendships.
Many a story and laugh was shared and many an address was exchanged.
The
formal part of the day was conducted by Fr. Michael Drennan S.J. and at
11:00am those present were gathered together for an open discussion. It
was a forum where people were able to share their experiences and their
hopes going forward. This session was a special experience for all in
attendance and the mutual support and good will of the gathering was self
evident. The deep desire to be apart of the wider "Passionist Family"
was a common bond throughout the day. All present shared a sense of belonging
to something special.
Lunch
was served at 1:00pm were the group enjoyed the company and hospitality
of the community
at Mt. Argus. The afternoon session explored ways in which individuals
or the group could contribute to the life of the province and those present
were encouraged to take the initiative in this regard. The business of
the day was concluded by forming the ad-hoc committee to organise the
next event.
The
members appointed were :
Frank Kelly : fpakelly@eircom.net
Sean Mc Caughey : smccaughey@cuspal.com
Tony Curran : tony.curran@kilsaran.ie
Regional contacts for Scotland and Northern Ireland were appointed:
Scotland Greg Gallagher
N. Ireland Jim Coey
The group will liaise with Kenneth Brady.
It
was agreed that the group would meet annually on the Saturday before the
Feast of St. Paul of the Cross. The date of the next meeting
was scheduled for Saturday 14th October 2006.
Before
bringing the day to an end Mass was celebrated in the community choir
by Martin Coffey. Musical accompaniment was supplied by guitarists Jimmy
Morrison and Greg Gallagher. The evening was drawn to a close by joining
the community for an evening meal in the refectory, after which people
retired to the CYM in Terenure for some refreshments where the craic was
good and lasted well into the night. Throughout the day lots of memories
were relived and for those present a lot of memories were created.
Thanks
are due to Martin Coffey the community at Mt Argus for their warm welcoming
hospitality. We take this opportunity to thank Frank Keevins for his generosity
in hosting this event and in particular the support, interest, commitment
and encouragement of Kenneth Brady in his tireless endeavours to develop
this gathering. Lastly, a short note of thanks to Sean Goan for his work
and service to the ad-hoc committee of which he takes leave, due to increasing
commitments.
In
all 25 members were in attendance and for those present it was and will
remain a Special Day. Anyone requiring a list of member's contact names
can contact one of the ad-hoc committee.
